With its 2027 season hanging by a thread, Major League Baseball will need a miracle if we’re going to see the pros take the field next year.

Much like the miracle needed to bridge the gap between the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) and the owners of the MLB teams to have baseball next year, the Toronto Blue Jays need a miracle to squeak into the MLB Postseason.

Currently sitting a full game behind the Minnesota Twins, the Blue Jays are clinging on to the hope that they might find themselves in one of the 3 available Wild Card spots for the MLB Postseason. The Twins, along with the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox hold the 3 wild card positions in the American League. With 34 games left, the Blue Jays have lots of time to turn things around and put themselves in the driver’s seat. They’ll have to compete with the Texas Rangers, the Twins, as well as the Cleveland Guardians, Baltimore Orioles, Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners; all of whom are within 2.5 games of that final wild card spot.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who has been struggling at the plate all season long, finds himself starting down in Single A Dunedin as he gets back on the road to recovery from a collision in a recent game against the Yankees. To this point in the season, Vladdy Jr. hasn’t hit one over the fences at the Skydome (whatever Rogers), which is shocking to say the least. The Blue Jays went far last season so it’s no surprise that teams knew what they were up against this year when facing the Jays. The Blue Jays will need a healthy Vladdy Jr. along with their big names (Springer, Clement, Kirk, Cease) to pull them through this final stretch. Catch fire at the right time heading towards the postseason and you never know.

It’s a long way to fall from the top of the mountain, but the Blue Jays managed to find a hold on their way down. Can they find their footing and start climbing back up the mountain? Only time will tell!
